Graph Games is now Algoraph! 2012-06-22 12:40:23.0

We have changed the name to reflect a change in focus of the project. Although the games are still there and we will likely add more (slowly), our focus is on providing a tool for use by researchers. We have incorporated the ability to run various algorithms on the puzzles, and continue to add more problem types and algorithms.

If you are interested in seeing what the software is really capable of, your account needs to be given permission. Contact the Principle Investigator (See the Credits page) for more information.

Recent Changes 2012-05-18 16:48:26.0
Graph Games is in a bit of flux currently. You might experience the occasional crash and for the time being sound has been disabled. Recent changes broke the sound and we haven't figured out what the problem is yet. You can let us know if you have problems, but since crashes are automatically reported to the server, we will probably already know about it.

Graph Games Server changes 2011-11-17 17:09:56.0
Some important changes will be made to the Graph Games server over the next day or so and it may become unavailable for some period of time. If you come back in the next day or two and cannot find the page, try again later. I do not know how long the interruption will be.

Graph Games to be Presented at Meaningful Play 2010-08-20 10:06:42.0
In October we will be presenting Graph Games at Meaningful Play 2010, a conference about designing and studying games that matter. In addition to presenting the game in the games competition, we will be presenting a paper that contains some preliminary results related to Pebble It. We are excited to show off our work and get feedback from others who make and study serious games.

No Gift Card Awarded 2010-08-20 10:01:34.0
Unfortunately, we did not have enough participation to our survey to be able to award a prize. We would still love to hear your feedback, though, so the survey is still available (as well as Feedback and Bug Reports in the game).

Amazon or Best Buy Gift Card 2010-07-22 17:19:33.0
We need your feedback in order to evaluate and improve Graph Games. Specifically, we are currently evaluating the Pebble It games. Please take the survey as soon as you can, and invite your friends and family to try out the games and take the survey, too.

If at least 25 people fill out the survey by midnight (EST) on August 16th, we will do a random drawing for a gift card from Amazon or Best Buy (winner's choice). The amount of the gift card will depend on the number of responses. If we get 25 responses (from unique individuals), it will be $25. If we get 50, it will be $50. The more responses, the higher the value, but we have to cap it at $100.

In order to verify that responses are legitimate, only those with names included will be counted, and your name must match either your username or your full name (in which case you need to make sure you include this information in your account so we can find you if you win.). Providing your name is optional, but without it we will be unable to include you in the drawing.

New Releases! 2010-07-22 07:06:35.0
We just updated Graph Games to include several enhancements and 3 news games! Power Houses, Power Lines, and Portal Lord are now all available. We are still working on more puzzles for these, but there should be enough to keep you busy for a while. Try them out and let us know what you think!

Right-click and other tricks 2010-07-17 21:13:31.0
It appears that some of you are unaware of the usefulness of right-clicking in the puzzles. If you right-click a target in Reach It or Rock It you can move more than one pebble at a time. If you right-click on a vertex in Confound It or Optimize It, you can place or remove a lot of pebbles at once.

This and many other useful tips are available on the help pages available for each puzzle--Just click on the ? icon on the play screen.

Graph Games may be down this morning 2010-07-15 08:13:46.0
We are installing an update to Graph Games later this morning. We have made several improvements to the interface and increased the stability of the game a bit.
We will send an in-game warning a few minutes before we make the changes. However, it you miss that warning it is possible you will experience a crash in the game. If that happens, wait for a few minutes and restart the game.

New games coming soon! 2010-07-10 23:40:49.0
Want to play games related to something other than graph pebbling? You are in luck! We are just about ready to release several new games as part of Power Graph. In these games you will activate nodes in the graph to accomplish various tasks. The games include Power Lines (which helps solve a problem called Vertex Cover) and Power Houses (which helps solve a problem called Dominating Set).

Pebble It Testing Party 2010-04-30 17:41:18.0
We held a testing party for Pebble It last night. We ate pizza and (tried to) play Pebble It for about an hour and a half. We found a very serious bug in the server code that pretty much locked up all of the clients on a regular basis. The bug was fixed, and everything seems to be fine now.

Thanks to all those who helped!

Coming soon: Optimize It! 2010-04-20 16:45:20.0
Some time in the near future we will be adding a new game mode which will ask you to place as few pebbles as possible on a graph in such a way that every vertex is reachable. It will be called Optimize It because it related to the graph pebbling problem called optimal pebbling.

New Version will be ready soon! 2010-04-12 19:56:13.0
The new and vastly improved version of Pebble It will be ready very soon! We have been working hard to get all of the bugs worked out and add new puzzles. We will try to update the news more often than every 20 months.
